Rules that apply to every paper
From the Instructions to Candidates (June 2026):
- "It is compulsory for candidates to sit for all the test papers."
- No calculators and no dictionaries, "including translation version, for both English Language and Mathematics test papers."
- Reading time is included in the test time. "No extra time will be given for reading."
- Multiple-choice answers go on a personalised Optical Answer Sheet (OAS), shaded with a 2B pencil. "Only one oval should be shaded for every MCQ question. Multiple shaded ovals for a single MCQ question will be marked wrong."
- Written answers go in the booklet in black or dark-blue pen, not in the margins.
- For the composition: copy only the question number, leave one line between answers, write on both sides, do not fold the paper, do not divide the page into columns.
What this means for practice
- Primary candidates need speed on multiple-choice (under a minute per item in Part 1) and clean working on short-answer items.
- Secondary candidates face two long papers in one day. Stamina matters as much as content.
- Every item on this site is tagged with the part of the paper it imitates (MCQ, short-answer, open-ended), so you can practise the right shape.
