The 2027 S-AEIS

From MOE's page as of 17 October 2026: applications "will open in early January 2027," tests "will be conducted in end February or early March 2027 (tentative)." For the Primary route, the Cambridge test must have been taken from January 2026.

Who uses it

  • Applicants who arrived too late for the July AEIS window.
  • Applicants who were unsuccessful in September and remain within the age band for a level S-AEIS offers. The age checker shows S-AEIS routes alongside AEIS ones; for some birth years the S-AEIS level is one below the AEIS level.
  • Not available for Primary 5 or Secondary 3 entry.

Starting mid-year

A successful S-AEIS applicant joins a class that has already done a term. The first weeks are about catching up on what the class covered from January, so a child who has prepared on the full syllabus of the level below is better placed than one who prepared only for the test.
