How to apply, step by step

AEIS guide · checked 17 Oct 2026

Create a Candidates Portal account, read the Instructions to Candidates, submit the online application with the documents, and pay. Here is each step with what MOE and SEAB say about it.

← All guide pages

Before the window opens

  1. Primary applicants: have the Cambridge statement of results in hand. See the Cambridge page.
  2. Run the MOE age checker and keep the result.
  3. Get a clear scan (JPEG or PDF) of the birth certificate. MOE: if it "is in other languages, you have to submit an accurate English translated copy."
  4. Check the passport. MOE: it "should have a validity of at least 6 months." Scan the bio-data page.
  5. Have a marriage certificate ready. MOE says additional documents "such as marriage certificate may be required."

During the application window

The 2026 windows were 7 to 16 July (Primary) and 8 to 17 July (Secondary). MOE publishes the 2027 dates on the AEIS page when applications open; expect July.

  1. Create an account for your child in SEAB's Candidates Portal (CP). MOE links a user guide (PDF) for this.
  2. Read the Instructions to Candidates (PDF). You must also read the instructions in the entry proof later, "as these will inform you of any important updates."
  3. Submit the online application in the CP and upload the documents above.
  4. Pay. Credit or debit card is preferred; PayNow is accepted. Fees for 2026: SGD 340 (Primary) and SGD 630 (Secondary), plus GST at the prevailing rate. "These fees are non-refundable."

After you submit

SEAB's process, from its application page:

  • Your registration shows as Pending while it is checked. Updating to Registered "takes at least 4 weeks if documents are complete."
  • Ineligible applications are marked ineligible in the portal.
  • Approval is notified by email, and the entry proof is downloaded from the portal, roughly two weeks before the test.
  • All correspondence goes to the email address registered in the CP. Use an address you check.

Do not do these

  • Do not pay before confirming the level with the checker. The fee is not refundable, including if your child does not sit the test.
  • Do not upload the Cambridge certificate instead of the statement of results.
  • Do not assume a second Cambridge score can replace the one you submitted.
